Podcast #43: How to Choose What Part of the Industry to Pursue

What do you do when you're thinking about pursuing many different parts of the entertainment industry? an you do all of them? Or should you pick one? If you have to pick one, how do you pick one? Today's episode helps you solve those problems!

If you're not sure about what part of the industry to pursue, you should ask yourself these 3 questions:

#1: What am I super passionate about?

As Think and Grow Rich says, you need to have a BURNING DESIRE to find success. Your passion is going to be an important player in your journey to success in Los Angeles. It will be difficult to succeed without it.

So what job are you really passionate about? What job are you OBSESSED with wanting to do? What job will you be willing to wait for when you have a bad day, or when you feel like it's taking a long time? The passion is what will help you through it all.

#2: Why do I want to do all these things?

Next you have to get really honest with yourself and ask yourself, "Why do I want to do this job?", and run through your list of possible positions. If the answer is "I dunno, cause it looks kinda cool.", that's not the strongest answer. You really want your answer to be "because I LOVE it!!". This goes hand-in-hand with the first question.

If you want to write, direct, act, and produce, WHY do you want to do each one of those?

#3: How can I best get my message across? How can I best serve my audience?

If you're an entertainer, what is the avenue that will get your entertainment out there the best? Is it through comedy? Is it through acting? Through writing? How will your audience be served best with your message? Which is the avenue that you love the most? That you're the best at? Where do your skills lie?

Pursue one dream at a time

Each dream job in LA requires a lot of time and energy. You want to be able to give 100% to whatever you go after. It's really difficult to give 100% when you're energy is pulled in many different directions.

Picking one job at a time is how you will find success faster.
