Why You Should Write Down Your Goals

In case you wanted to know yet another thing I'm obsessed with, let me tell you about index card goals.

Yes, I'm obsessed. I'm obsessed because they have helped me succeed in LA. That's why I teach it to you.

goals

Now I know you may think it's a "fluff" thing, or it's silly, or it's a waste of time. But it's actually proven that people who write their goals down are much more successful than people who don't. So I share this technique with you to help you kick ass in LA!

If you'd like to try this technique, take an index card (or a piece of paper), and write down your big dream plus a specific deadline. Like, "By May 15, 2020, I will be a series regular actor on a hit TV show for ABC." (For more info on this part, check out this blog post.)

Next, take this card and hang it somewhere you will see every day. I love the bathroom mirror because you're forced to look at it in the morning and at night while brushing your teeth.

After you hang it up, then you should start brainstorming ways of how you can make this goal happen. What actions can you take? The ticking clock deadline pushes you to get it done faster.

This index card technique is done by many successful people. I know specific millionaires who practice this every time they have a new goal. It's really fun when it comes true, so make sure you put today's date on the top. You can see in my sample, I forgot to put the date I wrote it, so I don't have proof that it was written several months before it happened!!

Sometimes when we are going after such a big dream in Los Angeles, it can feel overwhelming. There are so many different things you can be doing to go after that dream that you don't know what to do first. The index card helps you focus. Especially when you break it down into smaller goals. Focus on one at a time. Each time you achieve one of your smaller goals, it will feel like a big accomplishment, and it will bring you to your bigger goal so much faster.

If you decide to give this a try, let me know how it goes!
