Podcast #17: How to Create Opportunities When They Don't Seem to Exist

In this episode, I talk about how to create your own opportunities. First, I talk about the idea of asking questions. It's important to ask the right questions, and to ask the right people. What dreams do you want to achieve? Who can answer your questions? What questions can you ask?

My big question when I first started was, "How do I get into the Art Directors Guild?". When I realized I could just ask the Guild, my mind was blown!

Someone helped me out on the show I worked on called "Glory Daze".  Here is a fun picture of the whole cast and crew. I had so much fun on that show! I was so bummed when it was canceled.

"I WAS SO TERRIFIED TO DO SOMETHING THAT WAS SO SIMPLE!"

Ever since that time I asked the question on how to get into the Guild, I've been asking questions all the time. As time passes, I want to grow in my career, so I constantly ask people how to make that next move. I mention the 19th Annual Art Directors Guild Excellence in Design Awards. Here are some pictures from the event! It took place at the famous Beverly Hilton Hotel. (Yes, that's totally George Clooney.)

The other way to create opportunities is to go the extra mile. Sometimes all it takes is one teeny tiny extra step that most people won't take.

I mention my favorite seminar in LA, James Malinchak's Big Money Speaker Bootcamp. This is where I make connections with people, and learn SO SO MUCH about marketing and business. No matter what field you are in, this information can help you market yourself. Check it out if you're in LA. I usually get free tickets, so email me if you're interested!
