#47: Breaking Tunnel Vision with the Artists and Founders of The Everyday Awesome

Today I'm chatting with Amy and Athena, Founders of The Everyday Awesome.

The two girls had similar paths in Los Angeles - both working in television, in the Art Department, both pursuing their own art on the side, and now they have come together for a beautiful cause. The Everyday Awesome is an LA based multimedia team empowering voices & sharing stories of passionate change-makers & the communities they impact.

We talk about how many amazing people there are in the industry, despite the stereotypes that are out there. We've all had mentors and experiences with people who really do care about helping us work our way up in the industry.

People think they get to the dock and missed their boat. But there is always another one coming.

Amy has a really cool line of her artwork specific to Los Angeles that you can check out here.

You can see some of her work in TV shows, and the film Date Night, starring Tina Fey and Steve Carell.

Athena, also an artist, talks about her passion for documentary film-making and story-telling, which will be intertwined with The Everyday Awesome.

I love that LA allows for organic growth, and can send you down all different paths that fulfill your passions. It's always an exciting adventure going after your dreams!

Look out for their podcast coming out this summer!

Amy recommends finding a mentor, and a great place to start is our community LA Bounders!
